The health system in chile is not one of the best because every day we found people dying on the waiting room of the public hospitals waiting for a doctor to get a treatment depending on their medical condition. They have to wait for hours and hours for a doctor to get a medical treatment which is too expensive so they do not have enough money to pay for medicines.
In Chile, we have two types of health insurance, private and public they have a lot of differences so they should become just in one health insurance. People have to pay the 7% of their salary to have health insurance, but if you belong to the middle class of the country you have to be in the public system because to be in private you must have a very high salary (you must earn at least 1.000.000 pesos.). You also can go and see a private doctor, but you must buy a voucher, ( which cost goes from 4.000 to 30.000 CLP) and you have to pay it with money from your own pocket. Many people choose to buy vouchers because the public health system is very slow and you have to wait many hours to see a specialist. If you belong to the minority of the higher class of the country you should be in the private health system which is a bit discriminatory because you must sing in to be on it, and if you have a very complicated disease, the health insurance could deny you to be on it. Usually, we can see people who are tired of this because when we are talking about health the government makes mistakes every time about it. The other day an old lady was crying in the hospital because she had no money to buy a voucher because she has a really lower salary and she had to wait for hours to finally see the doctor. Those differences make this two types of organizations very unequal and they should be just as one.
The public health system is the worst because daily we found people dying on the halls of the public hospitals this happen because there are no so many doctors to see patients. People normally have to wait for a doctor to get a treatment depending on their medical condition and when finally he says what medicine you should take it is too expensive and most of the time people does not have enough money to pay for it. Another thing that we, as patients, usually do is to wait for hours in hospitals because there are full of people who are in the same conditions as us or even worst and sometimes doctors gave to us a bad diagnostic, they give you aspirins for a third degree burn. If you have lot of money you can choose to go to a private hospital in which doctors are going to attend you with a lot of patience and love because you are paying a lot of money to them. Three years ago I was sick my head looks like a balloon so I went to a public hospital the doctor said that it was cold, I didn't get convinced so I went to a private hospital and they said me that I have a tumor and I should go to surgery, that makes me think that sometimes doctors in public hospital did not really cares about what is happening to you they just give you an aspirin for everything. For all those reason, the public medical system is not good because people are not happy with it, and a lot of people suffer, too.
In conclusion, the health system should be for free to all people because in this way people would be able to get their right medical treatment at time for their disease and we do not need a good and a bad system we as patient need just one big and good system.
